As the chair, I am honored to accept the IEEE SA Emerging Technology Award on behalf of the 802.1 Working Group - ieee802.org/1 IEEE 802.1CM is the Time-Sensitive Networking or TSN profile for Fronthaul. We collaborated closely with the Common Public Radio Interface or CPRI cooperation to define a bridged Ethernet network between a cellular operator’s radio equipment and its controller. What began 15 years ago to support audio/video bridging has developed into a TSN toolset that was first leveraged with the standardization of 802.1CM . We are motivated by industry interest in our TSN technologies. The TSN standards provide a toolset that allows bridged Ethernet networks to deliver the right packet at the right time. We are excited to standardize Time-Sensitive Networking for new industries such as industrial automation, automotive and aerospace. It’s an amazing time for our industry. On behalf of all the participants in the 802.1 Working Group, thank-you for this recognition.

Thoughts: Great video and a discussion. Agreed with lot of ideas but not all. Comments: 1. We must solve vision for driving regardless of complementary subsystem. 2. At this point it's not all roses and sunshines for Lidar. Lidar data is prone to faulty and inaccurate data even in the optimum operating environment. Cost is not the only hold back actor. 3. Need governments of the world to focus, regulate and maintain Autonomous friendly environment rather than asking vehicle manufacturers to be agile with raw environment. 4. Need strong efforts in getting lab ideas to the factory floor. We have seen a lot of solved problems don't make it to consumer market just because the economics didn't make sense. P. S. Love IEEE ❤️
